FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are your products really 100% natural?
Why isn’t BEING 100% Certified organic?
Most ingredients in BEING products are certified organic. However, there are some ingredients, like clays and salts, which just don’t have that kind of certification because these aren’t harvested with pesticides like plants and therefore the same processes don’t apply. Instead, these ingredients are evaluated in other ways, such as how they are derived. The Dead Sea salts, for example, are considered 100% pure and harvested through a special process that makes these the cleanest unrefined Dead Sea salt in the market. A small handful of other ingredients, such as a few oils, for instance, aren’t classified as organic because they may come from smaller co-operatives or farms that don’t have the resources to apply for this certification. However, these are typically classified as fair-trade, wild-grown, or cultivated without pesticides, so they maintain the same high quality, sustainable standards as organic.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Given that only natural ingredients are used, the shelf life of most products ranges from 6 months to a year. The bath products have the longest shelf life. The liquid products contain a natural preservative, leucidal, which derives from radish root ferment. Other natural preservatives such as vitamin E and rosemary antioxidant are also used to protect products against oxidation and rancidity. To ensure the best freshness, make sure to keep all products away from direct sunlight and at room temperature. Also, you should take care not to introduce water into the balm containers and as a general rule of thumb, apply balms with clean hands.
Why has my balm turned grainy?
There’s nothing wrong with it! This is a normal process of the shea butter because it contains a variety of fats that all have different melting points. What happens is that after the shea butter re-solidifies from having melted in your pocket or being out on a hot day, all of these various fats that have been melted become solid again at different rates, which accounts for the clumpiness. This has no effect on the quality of the product whatsoever! In fact, you might enjoy it, as the tiny grains serve as a mild exfoliator on your skin, especially the lips!
I’m allergic to nuts. Do any of your products contain nut oils?
Yes, argan oil in the Radiance Incarnate Facial Nectar and macadamia oil in the Mend Healing Balm. These oils haven’t been found to typically affect people with nut allergies, but do consult a doctor first before using.
Do your products contain any soy?
No. Since there is contradictory evidence on the safety of soy, all ingredients have been carefully reviewed to ensure they are not derived from any soy components.
