diy bath salts

If you haven’t caught on already, we absolutely L-O-V-E baths. Allowing ourselves to sink into and be held by water with our bath fixings of choice, we’re convinced that taking a bath is one of the best ways to heal any exhaustion, aches, and pains of both skin and soul.

Some of the benefits of taking baths with salts for skin are:

  • Relieving joint and muscle discomfort

  • Easing headaches

  • Soothing skin conditions such as eczema

  • Restoring hydration to skin

And when our bodies feel good, that clears the air for the mind and spirit to feel good, too.

We created two refreshing, simple DIY bath salt recipes that you can make in the comfort of your own home: the Summer Citrus Clarifier and the Floral Milk Pacifier.

salts and oils for diy bath salts
If you want to get creative and create your own bath salt recipe, here’s what we recommend starting with as the base of your bath salt:

  • 2 cups Epsom salt - Epsom salt isn’t actually a salt, but it’s the mineral magnesium sulfate, which is an essential part of bone structure, blood pressure regulation and disease prevention
  • 1/2 cup baking soda - this ingredient commonly found in baked goods is also a wonderful skin softener as well as a water conditioner
  • 20 drops essential oils of choice - pick the scents that will transport you wherever it is your heart longs to go with their aromatherapeutic properties
Below are our two recipes we created to indulge in a spring/summer bath ritual soak. You’ll also need a container that will hold 3-4 cups of bath salt goodness. We just used a couple of wide mouth ball jars and the soaks fit in them perfectly.
